An alarming traffic alert from a notorious intersection in Havana revealed a crash on Monday afternoon that left two individuals injured. According to posts on the Facebook group "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!", it appears that two people traveling on a motorcycle were involved in an accident at the corner of Zapote and Durege in the Santo Suárez neighborhood, located in the Diez de Octubre municipality.

The user who shared the post highlighted that the injured parties remained on the ground for over 25 minutes without any ambulance arriving, despite her and several neighbors contacting the emergency numbers provided by the government. "I called 106, and the operator instructed me to contact SIUM directly. Many neighbors also reported the incident due to our bitter experiences with emergency responses," she noted on Facebook. A police patrol was reportedly visible at the scene.

She expressed gratitude towards the firefighters from Command 1, who were passing by and stopped to assist the injured, identified as a man and a woman. "My respect goes to the comrades from Fire Command #1 who stopped to help immobilize the victims, as the man was in bad shape and such aid should be provided by trained personnel knowledgeable of potential injuries from such impacts," she wrote.

Dangerous Intersections and Recent Accidents

The poster also mentioned the corner where the accident happened is “hazardous because people are overconfident and ignore the Yield sign, which isn't just for decoration.” She added that since July 11th, after many streets in Santo Suárez were paved, there have been six or more fatalities, all involving motorcyclists.

In the comments section, it was added that the two injured were eventually transported for medical care in passing vehicles. Last Wednesday night, several individuals were hurt when a Nissan truck collided with an electric pole in the same Diez de Octubre municipality. This accident took place at the intersection of Úrsula and Destrampes in the Sevillano area.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist died in Santa Cruz del Norte, Mayabeque, after crashing into a bus. Additionally, on Saturday morning, an accident involving three trucks occurred at the entrance to the province of Camagüey. Some users reported that this crash happened near the Radio Reloj station in the province, specifically just before the Florida checkpoint.
