The Cuban Ministry of Finance and Prices has prolonged the deadline for tax payments until the end of this month. Initially, these obligations were due in October 2024. According to the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba No. 46, Resolution No. 322 dated October 26, 2024, the extension has been sanctioned by the Minister of Finance and Prices, allowing both individuals and businesses to settle their taxes by October 31, 2024.
This decision comes in response to the "exceptional circumstances" currently affecting the country, notably the energy crisis and the impact of Hurricane Oscar, which has wrought substantial damage to infrastructure and communication networks, particularly in the eastern provinces.
The National Office of Tax Administration (ONAT) has been tasked with guiding taxpayers through this process and ensuring the successful implementation of the new deadline. The Ministry also encourages the use of electronic payment options, highlighting benefits such as a 3 percent discount on the total amount due.
As Cuba grapples with these challenges, the government’s decision offers some relief to taxpayers facing logistical and financial hurdles during this period of recovery and adjustment.
