Description not available

A 16-year-old Cuban teenager tragically lost his life over the weekend in Bayamo, Granma province, after being fatally stabbed while trying to defend a friend during an altercation, according to reports circulating on social media. The victim, identified as Walfrido López Rodríguez, affectionately known as "Titico el Erifa," was attacked despite his known skills in karate, as several individuals restrained him.

The incident took place shortly before midnight on Saturday at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes park, located in front of the Royalton hotel. Various sources, including the news portal La Tijera, reported that Walfrido stepped in to protect his friend when a group of youths from the neighborhood known as "La Cutara" attacked him. Given his proficiency in karate, the assailants immobilized him, allowing a mere 14-year-old to deliver the fatal stabs.

It was revealed that there was a pre-existing rivalry and unresolved conflicts between the victim's friend and the attackers. "His warm personality and strong human relationships made him very popular among friends and peers," shared neighbors and acquaintances.

Heartfelt Tributes and Community Grief

"My child, you have no idea how much it pains us to say goodbye. Life is incredibly unfair, and you were just beginning yours. We will miss you dearly. Rest in peace. Our condolences to the family," expressed Yeliannis Yilian Martínez on Facebook.

"Receiving such a sudden call and hearing that news felt like losing a piece of my life. Today, we part with our friend in deep sorrow, yet with gratitude for having known and shared our journey with him," another friend, Alexania Santos, wrote on Facebook.

"His departure leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled, but his memory will remain alive within each of us. You know you are and always will be very important to me; you will be the brightest star in the sky, and justice will be served for what was done to you. Rest in peace, my dear, knowing you were loved and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing you. Your memory will live on, reminding us of the importance of valuing every moment and every person in our lives," she added.
