A bus belonging to the Cuban company Transtur collided with a building in the Havana municipality of Regla this past Sunday. The incident resulted in property damage, but fortunately, no injuries were reported, as detailed in various posts on social media platforms.
A Facebook user named Spetsnaz Spetsnaz was among the first to share news of the accident in the group "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!" He posted, "Right now in Regla. Material damages. Drive with caution," urging drivers to remain vigilant to prevent accidents similar to the one that occurred on Trocha Street in Santiago de Cuba. That incident tragically claimed the life of Luis Enrique Monier Martínez, who was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a Soviet-made Moskvitch car.
Monier's accident, which happened a few days prior, ended in his death after he was rushed to the nearby Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital. The day before, another accident in Santiago de Cuba involved a motorcycle crashing into a garbage truck, injuring two people who were subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to an early report from journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, this motorcycle accident occurred around noon on the bustling Las Américas Avenue, near the Santiago Hotel. The report detailed how the motorcycle, which had a passenger, collided with a garbage collection truck in the area.
Last week, a CUPET truck carrying liquefied gas cylinders collided with a car, overturning due to non-functional traffic lights at a busy intersection in Vedado, Havana. In another incident, a Chinese-made Yutong bus crashed into a streetlight on Monday in Havana. Thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities; the bus and the already strained electrical infrastructure of the city sustained only minor damages.
A social media user reported, "A few minutes ago, a blue Yutong, possibly military service, hit a metal post on the divider of 25th Street, between the exit to Playa and the turn-off to the Institute of Genetics, at the border of Playa and Marianao. Only material damages are visible. I couldn't take pictures because I was on a motorcycle and it was raining."
