In a desperate plea for assistance, a Cuban mother took to social media this Wednesday to seek help in locating her 20-year-old daughter who has gone missing in Havana. Aliusky Navas Sardina turned to Facebook to express her distress, writing, “I need the support of everyone on Facebook and friends. I want to report that my daughter is missing, and I need your help to find her. Her name is Milena, she lives in Centro Habana, and she is 20 years old.”
The visibly distressed mother expressed her desperation to know her daughter's whereabouts and issued an urgent appeal for anyone with information to reach out. She provided her grandfather's contact numbers for any leads: 52002145 and 78621597.
In the comments section of her post, several individuals reported sightings of the young woman. Michel Rodríguez Izaguirre mentioned that on Sunday, he traveled from Havana to Camagüey and that “she boarded the same bus. She was with a young man.” Similarly, Pedro Javier Castillo Torres claimed to have seen her on Tuesday, assuring that “she is okay.”
Community Offers Support Amid Crisis
Navas, the mother of the missing girl, remarked, “She has her behavior; now the important thing is for her to come back safe and sound.” Later, the distraught mother made another post identifying the person allegedly with her daughter: “The last time they were seen was in Ciego de Ávila, and they have no money. Please help, this is an SOS, she might be in danger. My daughter is Milena, please help my child for God's sake.” She included a photo of Yuniel Rafael Reyes Meriño, whom she claims is the man seen with her daughter.
Reports of missing persons frequently circulate on social media, both within and outside of Cuba. Due to the government's inaction, families and friends often resort to desperate online announcements in hopes of obtaining information that will lead to the recovery of their loved ones.
Other Cases of Missing Individuals Surface
In a related incident, a 14-year-old Cuban girl named Alyssa Mariela González Velázquez has been missing since Sunday night after leaving her home in West Miami shortly after 7 PM. Her family, who recently arrived from Cuba, is deeply concerned as they assert that the teenager had never unexpectedly left home before.
Additionally, the family of an elderly man suffering from dementia reported his disappearance in Havana over 48 hours ago. His daughter, Ivonne Vila Martínez, has made several social media posts in recent hours, seeking help to find her father, who resides in the Cerro municipality.
