Wednesday, October 23, 2024 by Emma Garcia

A Venezuelan woman living in Florida has sparked interest with her humorous and candid take on what it's like being married to a Cuban. In a TikTok video, she shares anecdotes that highlight cultural differences, along with the lessons she's learned and habits she's adopted while living with her Cuban husband. "I'm Venezuelan married to a Cuban," begins @andreinaguti7 in her video, before diving into some of the cultural clashes that have stood out to her. "It took me a while to understand what his family was saying because they speak so fast with words I didn't get," she remarks.

One of the aspects she discusses is the well-known Cuban tradition of drinking coffee. "I can confirm that they drink coffee at any hour of the day," she jokes. "Morning, afternoon, or night—whenever you visit someone, the first thing they do is brew coffee." While it might sound like a complaint, she quickly clarifies that she's far from annoyed: "I love coffee," she asserts.

Embracing Cuban Habits

The Venezuelan also shares how she's picked up some Cuban habits, like using certain swear words to blow off steam in stressful situations.

A New Appreciation for Cuban Music

Regarding music, she admits to becoming a fan of "reparto" music. "I have to admit, reparto music is incredibly catchy. I know all the artists, have memorized all the songs, and I even play it for my kids in the car. I love reparto," she proudly states.

Moreover, she highlights another trait she's noticed in Cubans: their ability to "solve problems." "When something breaks, they don't throw it away; they find a way to fix it because I imagine that's what they had to do in Cuba. I love that about them," she says, appreciating this deeply ingrained Cuban skill.

This video has resonated with many, both Cubans and Venezuelans, who see themselves in these cultural differences and celebrate the bond between these two countries through love and humor.
