Manager of El Taiger Discusses Potential Funeral in Cuba and Artist's Estate

Sunday, October 20, 2024 by Elizabeth Alvarado

Marcel Reinosa, the manager of Cuban singer José Manuel Carbajal, better known as El Taiger, addressed the media on Saturday regarding the potential funeral in Cuba and the artist's estate during the memorial service held at St. Lazarus Church in Miami. In a video shared by Martí Noticias, Reinosa expressed that he couldn't divulge too many details out of respect for both the family and the artist's team.

Regarding a possible tribute to El Taiger in Cuba, Reinosa mentioned that, to his knowledge, such an event could be arranged, but they still need to coordinate all the specifics with the family. He clarified that whether the funeral would include the body or just ashes is a decision that rests with the family. Reinosa chose not to elaborate further to honor the internal process being managed alongside the relatives.

Legal Matters Surrounding El Taiger's Estate

When it comes to the artist's inheritance, Reinosa specified that the matter is currently with the attorneys, and they are unable to provide insights into the legal proceedings at this time. He assured that eventually, all information will be disclosed, and relevant documents will be made available, but it's too early to comment on who holds legal authority or control.

Reinosa emphasized that, as per the law, the inheritance will inevitably be passed on to the artist's children, also mentioning the grandmother, who is still alive. He stressed that this situation is not a conflict over royalties, as the law clearly designates the family—namely, the children and the grandmother—as the beneficiaries.

Unreleased Music and Legacy

The manager highlighted that there remains a significant amount of unreleased musical material by the Cuban singer. Reinosa explained that the team has accumulated a wealth of music from years of work and is in discussions with the record label to release this content appropriately. Although it is a sensitive process, he stressed their determination to ensure El Taiger's musical legacy lives on, allowing fans to continue enjoying his work.

Reinosa used the opportunity to address the rumors surrounding El Taiger's death, noting that, eventually, the truth will emerge. The team has chosen to be cautious in their statements and focus on verifiable facts. Furthermore, he emphasized their intention to have all hospital documentation and diagnosis in writing before providing more details, trusting that time will clarify everything.

Reflecting on the open-casket funeral held in Miami, Reinosa remarked, "It's very intense. People may judge us for not showing emotions, but we go through our private process at night."

El Taiger was pronounced dead on October 10 at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had been admitted for a week after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.
