Willy Chirino, a beloved and highly regarded artist among the Cuban exile community in Miami, recently took to Instagram to express his concerns over the dire situation facing Cubans amidst the ongoing energy crisis. "How many candles does it take to light up an entire country and bring it out of darkness?" he questioned, accompanying a post with an image of the Cuban archipelago illuminated by candlelight.

"It breaks my heart to see my fellow Cubans enduring such hardship for so many years. To truly bring light to the Cuban people, we need more than just candles; we must remove these ruthless, heartless henchmen who are willing to plunge Cuba into an abyss to cling to power. DOWN WITH THE DICTATORSHIP! LONG LIVE A FREE CUBA!" the salsa icon passionately declared in his post's description.

Voices of Solidarity from the Cuban Music Scene

Another prominent Cuban artist, Alexander Delgado from the group Gente de Zona, also voiced his frustration about Cuba's plight. "Cuba is once again without electricity for over 24 hours and without freedom for more than 65 years. Enough is enough! Leave and let my Cuba be free and prosperous as it should be! You are a system that has never worked!" the singer emphasized.

Meanwhile, Leoni Torres added his voice on the same social media platform, expressing, "How much longer must my people suffer? May God intervene so we can finally rid ourselves of this incompetent government."

Persistent Power Outages Highlight System Failures

For weeks, Cubans have been enduring prolonged power outages. Last Friday, a nationwide blackout occurred when the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant went offline. Despite claims from officials that electricity was being restored, the National Electric System (SEN) completely collapsed again on Saturday, just hours after these assurances.
