The memorial service for El Taiger took place this Saturday at the San Lazaro Church in Miami, featuring an open casket, a choice made by his family to put an end to the rumors that have circulated on social media since the reggaeton artist's passing on October 10. Following a private mass attended by those closest to the artist, a public ceremony was held where the coffin was opened, allowing attendees to pay their respects and view the singer's face.
Outside the church, Teresa Padrón, the late artist's manager, addressed the gathering crowd, urging them to behave appropriately and "listen to the police." Speaking about the family's decision to have an open casket, she explained, "I didn't want people to see him looking bad, but thankfully the funeral home did a good job with the reconstruction, so we were able to have the casket open. It was a family decision, to be clear. They chose this for his fans and his community. I just ask that, out of respect for the church, there are no disturbances."
Journalist Leonel Allegues shared on his TikTok account, "El Taiger's body is in a coffin with the initials LBMA, it's a gray coffin. He is well-dressed, though somewhat pale and thinner than before. That's my impression... He hasn't been cremated; his body is there." Despite strict security measures and protocols prohibiting phones, photos, and videos inside the church, some individuals disregarded these rules, prompting police to remove them from the premises.
Fans present at the funeral and those following the event online expressed their disapproval of such actions, deeming them disrespectful to the artist's family and friends.
