Cuban Influencer Sparks Social Media Debate Over Arizona Rent Costs

Thursday, October 17, 2024 by Ernesto Alvarez

The Cuban TikToker Evelyn Ferrer, known on the platform as @evelynferrer95, has ignited a social media debate after sharing a video detailing her rental expenses in Phoenix, Arizona. In the clip, she explains that she and her husband pay $1,080 per month for a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. However, she clarifies that utilities such as water, gas, electricity, and trash are not included, bringing the total monthly cost to around $1,400.

Evelyn gives viewers a tour of her new home, showcasing everything from the fully-equipped kitchen to the bedrooms, noting that the space is currently unfurnished since they recently relocated from Macon, Georgia, and are starting from scratch. Her account has sparked various comments and reactions, as many of her followers and other TikTok users have begun sharing their own experiences with rental prices in the same city.

Comparisons and Skepticism

"I pay $1,350 with all bills included on 17th Ave and Missouri," one user comments, while others compare their situations, highlighting that rent in some areas can be even higher. "Rent in safer neighborhoods ranges from $1,800 to $2,000," another person mentions, questioning whether such affordable prices can really be found in Phoenix.

Despite the skepticism, Evelyn maintains that her apartment is located on Dunlap Ave at a complex called Luna Villa Apartments, and insists that the prices she mentions are accurate, albeit without utilities included in the base cost. Some intrigued followers have even asked for the exact address and name of the complex to take advantage of what they perceive as bargains that seem too good to be true.

Debate Over Area and Safety

Amid the discussion, some users express doubt, claiming they've never encountered such low rents in Phoenix, and note that more affordable areas tend to have safety or quality issues. "The downside is the area; Villa Luna and most apartments on Dunlap have a bad reputation, along with many homeless people," one user remarks. Evelyn, however, stands by her decision, stating that she is doing "super well" and that, compared to other places, Phoenix offers quite reasonable prices.

The controversy continues to grow, with some seeing Evelyn's video as a guide to finding good deals in Phoenix, while others believe the information might not be entirely accurate. What do you think?
