Dianeyis García (@dianeyiskale on TikTok), a Cuban residing in California, recently shared her whirlwind vacation experience in Miami via TikTok, revealing she spent a whopping $5,000 in just four days in the Sunshine City.
In a series of videos posted to her account, García highlighted her stays at two different hotels. The first was located in the Hollywood area, while the second was a luxury establishment in Miami Beach. She admitted to an unexpected challenge at the first hotel—having to converse entirely in English, contrary to her assumption that Spanish would suffice. "I was surprised to find that I had to speak English all the time. I thought it would be all Spanish. It was a shock to realize everyone at the hotel spoke English," she remarked.
García detailed some of her expenses during the trip, including a visit to a hair salon, renting an Audi for $500, and staying at a five-star hotel priced at $465 per night. "I like nice, luxurious, and expensive places because I have expensive tastes, even if I'm poor," she confessed in her video.
She also recounted a pricey dining experience at a Cuban restaurant where the bill totaled $140, plus an additional $15 tip. "I found it extremely expensive," she reflected.
Viral Reactions on TikTok
Her video quickly went viral on TikTok, garnering reactions from the Cuban community. Comments ranged from supportive to critical, with users saying, "Good for you, it's your money, spend it as you wish! As for the English... You know enough to get by, and if anyone dislikes it, they can pay for your course," and "With that money, I went to Dominican Republic and Cancun," to more skeptical takes like "The worst investment you've made," and "Seriously, $5,000 is steep? I'd prefer to explore another country with that cash."
