Yanet, a Cuban TikToker known online as @yanetatlanta, has been sharing insights from her experience during the U.S. citizenship interview. She highlighted what she found to be the most challenging aspect of the process.
Yanet pointed out that understanding specific definitions within the test was particularly difficult. These definitions are crucial for foreign applicants as they must grasp the meaning of certain key terms they are questioned about. During her own interview, Yanet was asked to define three words, but she only remembers two: "oath of allegiance" and "weapon."
The "oath of allegiance" refers to the Pledge of Loyalty required to become a U.S. citizen. It is administered during the citizenship ceremony and marks the official transition from immigrant to citizen. On the other hand, "weapon" is defined as any instrument or device designed for combat, hunting, injuring, defeating, or destroying an opponent.
Although Yanet didn’t memorize the entire glossary of definitions, she advised others to study these terms to avoid unpleasant surprises during the citizenship test. In an earlier video, Yanet recounted the various challenges she faced upon arriving at the interview office, which made her worry about passing the process.
Overcoming Unexpected Hurdles
One of the critical moments occurred while she was in line and realized she had forgotten her driver's license, a vital document for the interview. Despite these tense moments, the officer eventually confirmed that she had passed the interview and invited her to participate in the oath ceremony that very day.
