Jorge Junior, the director of the renowned Cuban group Los 4 and cousin to the late artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar (El Taiger), recently shared details about the funeral arrangements, expressing his deep sorrow over the tragedy that has shocked the Cuban community. In a heartfelt video posted on social media, Jorge Junior revealed that the memorial services will take place over the weekend of October 18 and 19 at a prominent Miami church, inviting all who wish to pay their respects to El Taiger.
"We'll gather at the Church of San Lázaro (Rincón de San Lázaro in Hialeah) to bid farewell to El Taiger in a fitting manner," Jorge Junior stated, visibly moved by the situation. He urged fans to be patient, promising to provide precise details regarding the schedule and order of the services throughout the week. He welcomed those interested to join in honoring his cousin appropriately.
Throughout his message, he expressed gratitude to those who have offered support during this challenging time, emphasizing the significant impact his cousin had on Cuban culture. "He brought a lot of joy and music to this genre," Jorge Junior fondly recalled.
In addition, the leader of Los 4 mentioned that he is collaborating with lawyers and family members to ensure El Taiger can be laid to rest in his homeland, alongside his mother in Cuba. He assured that he would do everything possible to make this happen. "We're working on bringing my cousin back to the island so he can be buried with his mom as he deserves," he explained.
Jorge Junior also expressed his trust in the U.S. authorities and called for justice regarding El Taiger's death. "I have great faith in the laws here, in the authorities," he asserted, emphasizing the right to know the causes and those responsible for this tragedy.
The artist concluded his message by thanking those who have shown support, both in Miami and Cuba. He highlighted the emotional support from fans who have greeted him warmly on the streets and at the airport, offering their condolences.
El Taiger, a believer in God and the Yoruba religion, was a devoted follower of San Lázaro, a revered figure in Cuba due to the island's rich history of religious syncretism across the Americas and the Caribbean.
