The Cuban reggaeton artist, Yosvanis Sierra, widely recognized as Chocolate MC, has responded to the backlash he has faced from influencer Alex Otaola and others on social media following the unfortunate passing of fellow musician El Taiger. In a powerful statement, Chocolate MC dismissed allegations of hypocrisy and shared his sorrow over the loss of someone he considered a friend, despite past conflicts.
"There's a lack of empathy, humanity, and Cuban spirit. How can you not feel sorrow at a time like this?" Chocolate expressed in a video shared on his social media platforms. "Just because you lack emotions doesn't mean I do too. Otaola, you're the hypocrite for speaking about me after everything that's happened," declared the self-proclaimed King of Reparto.
Chocolate MC emphasized that regardless of past disputes with El Taiger, he always held respect for him and his family. "The first thing I did after being released from prison was to apologize to José (El Taiger) and his mother," the artist stated, underscoring that he cannot be labeled as insincere for feeling the weight of such tragic news.
Acknowledging Imperfections
In his remarks, Chocolate was candid in admitting that while he is not flawless, one of his "significant flaws" is his refusal to be a hypocrite. "I'm human. Someone connected to me, be it as a friend, foe, or colleague, passed away – they were killed in a horrible manner," he concluded.
The tragic death of El Taiger, whose real name was José Manuel Carbajal, has shaken the Cuban urban music scene. Upon the announcement of his death, fans gathered outside the hospital to pay their respects. Among them was Chocolate MC, who brought flowers, called for justice for El Taiger, and recorded footage for his upcoming music video, "Desconfianza," a tribute to José Manuel Carbajal's memory.
Chocolate MC’s message is clear: despite any past differences with the deceased artist, the loss has deeply impacted him, and he firmly rejects accusations of insincerity in his mourning.
