Cuban singer Alex Duvall has joined the list of artists who have tattooed the letters LBMA on themselves, following the tragic passing of popular reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, widely known as El Taiger, in Miami last Thursday.
Duvall shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, alongside a video showcasing the tattoo process on his chest. "Legends never die," he expressed, honoring the legacy of El Taiger. "You inspired generations, created a movement, and were the soundtrack at every Cuban party since you started your career. The genre won't be the same without you, but many of us will continue your legacy," stated Duvall, who collaborated with El Taiger in 2022 on the track "Mala."
Shortly after the news of El Taiger's death, Lenier Mesa and Dany Ome also memorialized the phrase LBMA on their bodies as a tribute. El Taiger passed away after a week-long battle for survival, having been shot in the head.
The Meaning Behind LBMA
The letters, once shrouded in mystery and proudly displayed on El Taiger's chest, stand for "La Bestia, la Machinee, el Animal." These words reflected how he saw himself within the Cuban urban music scene. He often paired the acronym with the phrase "The best in the world."
The untimely death of El Taiger, who leaves behind four children and a surviving grandmother, has deeply affected both his colleagues and fans. Supporters have created an impromptu memorial outside the Jackson Memorial Hospital to pay their respects to the beloved reggaeton star.
