As Hurricane Milton sweeps through the United States, it continues to deliver astonishing scenes. Recently, a video shared by Telemundo went viral, capturing a startling incident in Florida where an alligator attacked a car navigating through floodwaters.
The frightening encounter took place in Fort Myers, located in Lee County, and was recorded by a passenger inside the vehicle. As one of the passengers prepared to exit the car onto a flooded street, the reptile suddenly emerged from the water and aggressively lunged at the tire.
"It's really deep here," the passenger remarked moments before witnessing the gator's gaping jaws near him. Shocked, he exclaimed, "Oh, crap, a freaking alligator just bit my tire!"
Warnings and Precautions in Flooded Areas
Authorities continue to stress the importance of avoiding walking through floodwaters during cyclones and hurricanes due to hazards like this. Telemundo's reporter reminded viewers that alligators, much like snakes, can swim in shallow waters, posing a risk to unsuspecting individuals.
The Devastation Left by Hurricane Milton
Hurricane Milton has claimed 12 lives in Florida and caused significant destruction, not only from severe flooding and high winds but also from the 19 confirmed tornadoes, with nine occurring in the southern part of the state before the storm made landfall.
The hurricane made landfall on Wednesday as a Category 3 storm on Florida's west coast, specifically striking Siesta Key, south of Tampa. The powerful meteorological event left behind striking images of its devastation.
Winds reaching up to 165 km/h tore off the roof of the Tampa Bay Rays stadium in St. Petersburg, a city along Florida's Gulf Coast. This venue was intended to serve as a shelter for emergency personnel.
