A Cuban individual couldn't hold back their frustration after witnessing videos circulating on social media. These videos show a group of Cubans gathering outside Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where José Manuel Carvajal, better known as El Taiger, is hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
The video, posted by user @reflexionesdedeni (Reflections of Deni) on TikTok, features this Cuban's critique of the inappropriate behavior exhibited by some during the hospital vigils. They blasted El Taiger's music at a high volume, an act described as a "disrespect" to the hospitalized patients and their families who are enduring tough times.
The commentator argued that such actions fail to convey genuine solidarity, suggesting that a more respectful and silent atmosphere should have been maintained. "You played extremely loud music in front of a hospital and danced outside. A vigil is about lighting a candle and keeping a respectful silence, showing consideration for other patients who have nothing to do with El Taiger. There were people suffering there," the video states.
Community Reaction to the Incident
Many Cubans resonated with these sentiments, expressing agreement with comments like, "Respect and education," "Someone had to say it," and "Totally agree, if you say otherwise, they attack you." Other users chimed in with, "Finally, someone speaks with propriety and sense, completely agree with you," and "100% agree, all they care about is the photo to post on TikTok."
Beyond this individual's remarks, others have also criticized the behavior captured in the videos, emphasizing that such conduct is inappropriate for a hospital setting: "It's a party, where are the beers?" "There are 300 other people in that hospital fighting for their lives, and their families have to endure that noise," and "What about the other patients and their peace?" Many hoped the commotion wasn't directly outside the hospital, adding, "While it's a beautiful gesture, the patients, including El Taiger, deserve peace for their recovery" and "Wishing for a speedy recovery, but I don't support the noise."
