Cuban rapper and political prisoner Maykel "Osorbo" Castillo has reached out with a message of support for reggaeton artist El Taiger, who is currently fighting for his life after surviving an assassination attempt. "Artists need to be protected," Castillo emphasized. During a phone call with fellow rapper El Funky, Castillo expressed his disbelief, stating that he had "no words to describe this atrocity."
"Regardless of personal issues or anything else, I know that no one deserves this, especially a Cuban artist," Maykel Osorbo reiterated. "Artists need to be protected; El Taiger needs to be protected," he stressed once more from behind bars, where he has been held since May 2021.
Outpouring of Support and Investigation Ongoing
El Taiger, a prominent figure in the Cuban music scene, was discovered on Thursday in the trunk of a car with a gunshot wound to his forehead. He is currently in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, suffering from severe brain damage and with a grim prognosis.
The attack on El Taiger has sparked outrage across social media platforms. Fans and fellow musicians alike have shared their shock and support online, with the hashtag #FuerzaTaiger gaining traction worldwide.
As of now, investigations are ongoing, and further updates are expected in the coming days regarding the artist's health and the progress in identifying those responsible for this heinous act.
