Three Cuban nationals were apprehended in the town of Tivoli, in the province of Rome, Italy, accused of violently stealing a woman's purse on the street.
The incident occurred on September 20, when the Carabinieri from the Castel Madama police station in the mentioned Roman locality detained the three Cuban individuals, ages 25, 48, and 25. They were accused of assaulting a woman while she was waiting for her child to come out of school.
The robbers' method involved distracting the woman by dropping coins on the ground. As the victim attempted to pick up the coins, one of the men snatched her purse. Realizing what had happened, the woman tried to stop the three assailants but was pushed to the ground, resulting in multiple bruises. Fortunately, despite her injuries, she did not suffer serious harm.
A security guard in the vicinity witnessed the theft and chased the criminals, who were trying to escape in a vehicle that had been stolen earlier. Minutes later, a Carabinieri patrol in the area managed to apprehend the suspects. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered two knives, which escalated the severity of the charges.
Following their arrest, the three Cubans were taken to Rebibbia prison, where they remain at the disposal of the Judicial Authority of Tivoli.
