Couple from Cuba Dies in Miami House Fire

Saturday, September 28, 2024 by Charlotte Gomez

In the early hours of Friday, a Cuban couple tragically lost their lives due to a fire in a northwest Miami home. Neighbors identified the victims as Bárbara Tamayo, who was in a relationship with a man named Daniel, approximately 30 years her junior. Another victim, a young man reportedly living with them, was identified as Amaury, according to América TeVe.

A fellow resident, who shared the house with the victims—allegedly divided into several efficiency units—claimed that the fire was intentionally set. He suggested that Bárbara, known for her jealousy and troubled relationship with her partner, might have been involved. This witness, who also sustained injuries, recounted arriving at 1:30 am to find Bárbara sitting on the porch with a menacing expression.

Bárbara had a history of domestic violence, fueled by her extreme jealousy. She reportedly did not want her partner to leave the house or interact with other women. According to América TeVe, she was disabled due to personality disorders and aggression issues.

The fire broke out at 3:00 am on Friday at 1922 NW 52nd Street in Miami-Dade. Firefighters responded to an emergency call, broke the windows, and rescued the victims, attempting to revive them with CPR. Unfortunately, although they were transported to the hospital alive, they succumbed to their injuries minutes later.
