On Thursday night, two men tragically lost their lives in a motorcycle accident near the Cubalse Store on El Caney Road in Santiago de Cuba. According to reports provided to independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the motorcycle they were riding had its lights turned off.
The victims have been identified as Eddy Fresco Almenares, who was reportedly studying Psychology at the University of Oriente, and Druvis Revilla, aged 40. Both men lived on Segunda Street in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood.
"They were taken to the Clínico hospital. I couldn't take photos because the police are not allowing anyone to get close, but the doctors said they couldn't do anything for one of the men who arrived already deceased, and they wouldn't touch him," a woman at the hospital recounted.
One of the men died at the scene, presumably after crashing into a pole. The specifics of the incident remain unclear, but the tragedy has deeply affected the local community.
