Marianela Ancheta has been chosen as the young woman who will represent Cuba in Miss Universe 2024. On Thursday, the jury, composed of 17 notable individuals, selected her as the face from the Central Region.
The event began with an opening walk featuring dresses and the music of Celia Cruz, followed by a swimsuit parade with live singing by Aymée Nuviola. Out of the 24 contestants, 12 advanced to the semifinals. These semifinalists included Alina Robert, Marianela Ancheta, Maylin Hernández, Lianet Álvarez, Laynet Wong-den, Sísili Marín, Arlety González, Gallia Vega, Leanny González, Yahima Mora, Lissandra Burgois, and Cyntia García.
Special guest Osmel Sousa expressed his pride in attending the event, recalling that the last time Cuba had a representative in Miss Universe, 57 years ago, she made it to the top five. Sousa, known as the "Beauty Czar," has high hopes for Marianela Ancheta, who won the title of Miss Universe Cuba.
After a glamorous gown parade accompanied by music from Lenier Mesa, the competition moved on to selecting the six contestants advancing to the next round. These six were Marianela Ancheta, Alina Robert, Maylin Hernández, Arlety González, Yahima Mora, and Leanny González, who then answered random questions from the jury.
Ultimately, Marianela Ancheta and Alina Robert were named the final two contestants of Miss Universe Cuba 2024. This coming November, Marianela Ancheta will proudly represent Cuba at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, set to take place in Mexico City.
