Amid the severe crisis plaguing Cubans, a bus cobbled together from parts of various vehicles has caught the eye in Santiago de Cuba. A video shared in the Facebook group “Choferes de Ómnibus por Siempre” sparked numerous comments, ranging from guesses about the bus's original make to praises for the driver's ingenuity in keeping it running.
“It used to be a Yutong 6118, but now who knows what brand it is,” said the post's author, emphasizing that this innovation demonstrates that “when there's a will, there's a way.” Despite its shabby exterior, the bus reportedly has well-functioning equipment. “It's in way better shape than a lot of those fancy buses out there,” the author asserted confidently.
Parts from Various Vehicles
Another user noted, “The front panels are from a Liaz 6212, part of the body is from a Yutong 6118, and who knows what else is in that contraption. But I'll tell you one thing, if they allowed us to utilize everything at Puente Nuevo, La Ermita, and all the terminals in Havana, we could get almost a hundred buses working.”
One person added that the bus operates on the route from the entrance of El Cristo to La Maya in Santiago de Cuba. “This is the desire to succeed and earn money honestly. Blessings to those who build a vehicle in Cuba and even more to those who maintain it,” another commenter highlighted.

The reality is that, with a deteriorating fleet of buses and the regime's claim of lacking spare parts or the ability to perform proper maintenance, initiatives like this shed a glimmer of hope.
