Political institutions and organizations under the Cuban regime continue to stage absurd acts filled with clichés and ineffective propaganda, like the recent tribute from INDER to the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) with a symbolic caldosa that was as fake as the gesture itself.
JIT, a sports news portal, shared images on the social media platform X of an "animated morning" event honoring the CDRs on their 64th anniversary. As part of the ceremony, a "symbolic caldosa" was prepared.
Additionally, a commemorative seal for the 60th edition of the National School Games was awarded, highlighting this child sports initiative as a "significant" achievement that, according to the official narrative, was born from the vision of Fidel Castro.
In addition to the fake caldosa, the tribute from INDER to the CDRs also included a symbolic coffee and even laundry hung out to dry.
The Caldosa: From Community Feast to Symbol of Scarcity
Once a symbol of celebration in Cuban neighborhoods, the caldosa has become a bitter representation of the misery and scarcity that plague everyday life on the island. What was once a plentiful and varied dish made with fresh ingredients is now unattainable for most Cubans, as preparing a quality caldosa requires spending amounts that exceed their financial means.
Continuing the Charade
In this context, the regime continues to maintain the pretense that the CDRs remain a people’s organization. Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, a failed spy and the national coordinator of the CDRs, expressed concern about the growing disconnection between the people and the organization, urging citizens not to "overlook" their anniversary.
However, it is impossible to "love" an organization that, in March, created a sticker with the phrase "My phone is my rifle" to be given to its "cyber combatants" in Havana.
The Provincial Directorate of the CDRs in the capital posted on Facebook that one of these stickers was affixed by the first Secretary of the PCC, Liván Izquierdo, to the Provincial Coordinator of the CDRs in Havana, Eliades Rodríguez.
