Cuban activist Yamilka Laffita, widely recognized on social media as Lara Crofs, has publicly revealed that she has received death threats due to her humanitarian efforts and advocacy for a free Cuba.
In a message shared across her social media platforms, Laffita outlined the threats she has faced and, despite her fragile health, emphasized that she continues to organize initiatives with fellow collaborators to support the island's most vulnerable citizens.
"I haven't been feeling well for a few days, which has made me less active on social media, but we keep working whenever we can," the activist stated, asserting that she will not cease her efforts despite the threats.
"State Security, I hold you directly responsible for anything that happens to me or any of my family or friends," she stressed. "Your vile threats don't scare me in the slightest. I know who I am, where I come from, and my greatest desire in life is a free Cuba; everything else is secondary."
Laffita has been adamant that her support for the Cuban people will not waver, pointing to the regime as the true culprit behind the country's dire situation. "My support for everything I believe is just and necessary will continue as long as you keep condemning this nation to live under tyranny," she asserted.
The activist also expressed her gratitude for the support and respect of figures like Professor Alina Bárbara López Hernández, who has become a prominent advocate for civil rights in Cuba. "Having her respect and trust is an enormous honor for me," Laffita highlighted, reaffirming her commitment to the cause of Cuban freedom.
Through this denunciation, Lara Crofs aims to shed light on the intimidation faced by Cuban activists and emphasizes that, far from being deterred, she will remain steadfast in her fight.
