A FedEx employee successfully prevented a robbery attempt while making a delivery at a residence in Hialeah, located in Miami-Dade. The incident, captured by the home's security camera, has quickly gone viral.
During the delivery, the FedEx driver encountered a man pretending to be the homeowner and trying to claim the packages. "If you really live here, open the door," the worker challenged the suspect. Faced with this confrontation, the man turned around and left.
The video also captures the driver confronting the suspect in Spanish: "I don't know you, I'm calling the police," he warned as the would-be thief walked away. Seeking additional evidence, the driver then pulled out his phone to try and photograph or record the suspect.
The actual homeowner, Anthony Peña, observed the situation through the security camera and asked what was happening. The FedEx driver explained that the suspect, who had parked a red Honda nearby, had approached him and requested the packages, which were three brand-new iPhone 16s recently released by Apple.
The video was shared on the social media account Only in Dade, where the FedEx employee has been praised for his timely and courageous actions.
Hialeah authorities are currently investigating the incident and searching for the suspect involved in the attempted robbery. In a phone interview with Telemundo 51, Peña expressed his gratitude towards the FedEx worker. "I thanked him through the camera, but the next time I see him, I will thank him in person," he said, adding that the driver knew the family well, which led him to suspect the individual and make the right decision to protect the property.
