A Cuban woman residing in Florida has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a detailed breakdown of her monthly expenses, with one particular cost raising eyebrows: the amount she spends on gasoline. In her video, the user known as @maryaragon805 (also identified as @leidyoficial) discloses her monthly expenditures on rent, car, groceries, and more, totaling $3,800. Among these expenses, a staggering $500 is attributed solely to gasoline.
"Look at this, regarding rent, I recently moved. I was in a one-bedroom apartment paying $1,650, and now I've moved to a two-bedroom for $1,485. More space for less money. I gained space and saved some money," she explains, detailing how she managed to cut her rent costs.
In the video, she also highlights other aspects of her daily life that have changed significantly, such as the cost of food: "When I arrived two years ago, $100 could buy you anything. Now you can't buy much of anything," she notes. "I don't know where we're headed. Not to mention you have to buy cleaning supplies, detergent, and more things that aren't included in that total," she adds with concern.
Many viewers have commented on the high prices of basic necessities like rent and groceries. However, the $500 monthly gasoline expense has particularly caught their attention. Comments such as "How do you spend $500 on gas? I spend $120 and drive a gas-guzzling V8 Expedition," "Do you drive a V8 or an airplane?" and "What kind of car do you have? $500 on gas is a lot," flooded her video.
In response to these remarks, the Cuban woman posted another video explaining that she runs a cleaning business. "I don't drive an airplane; I simply run a cleaning business. We travel from one house to another, and I also have to take my son to school and pick him up. Some months, I spend even more," she clarifies.
