A Cuban woman living in the United States recently made a heartfelt trip back to the island, where she was reunited with her grandmother after an 18-year separation.
Accompanied by her husband and their two children—great-grandchildren the elderly woman had never met—the emotional reunion began even before they stepped inside the house. Overwhelmed with emotion, she started crying as soon as she arrived.
"Grandma, Grandma," she cried, embracing her grandmother tightly. The elderly woman, equally emotional, tried to soothe her, saying, "You made it, you made it, you finally saw me."
The grandmother was ecstatic to meet her great-grandchildren for the first time. "My beautiful children, oh, my great-grandchildren, they're so lovely," she exclaimed.
The two young children were also moved to tears during the reunion. The grandmother reminisced about how her granddaughter had left Cuba as a very young woman, barely older than her own daughter is now.
