Singer Ovi Arrested in Miami for Allegedly Pointing Gun at Young Man While Driving

Cuban singer Ovidio Crespo, better known as Ovi, was arrested on Tuesday, September 17 in Miami, facing several charges including possession of illegal substances, improper display of a firearm, and armed assault. The police report indicates that he was given a bail of $8,000 for these offenses.

The young Cuban's arrest came after Venezuelan model Giussepe Benignini reported that Ovi had pointed a gun at him while driving in Miami. "He pulled out a gun and threatened me here in Miami," said the model, showing video evidence of the incident. "I was driving and saw a car, a McLaren, cut me off. I honked because it almost hit me, and when I honked, he stopped and pulled out a gun. [...] I thought he was going to shoot me," the young man recounted.

"How can these people who call themselves artists commit such offenses and then threaten you with a gun? What would have happened if he had shot me? I don't understand, people who claim to be artists. I don't know how people support these artists. I am going to file a complaint. I know it's him because he has the same car on his Instagram," added the young man, who shared the incident on his social media to publicly denounce Ovi for threatening him with a gun.

This incident adds to the series of controversies surrounding the Cuban singer in recent years. Ovi has been arrested multiple times in the United States, including a 2021 altercation with another singer where he also brandished a firearm in public.
