A child from Cárdenas, Matanzas who suffered severe facial burns in a domestic accident is making significant progress in his recovery thanks to supplies sent from Miami by the Cuban exile community.

"Here is proof of God's miracles. In less than 20 days, look at the recovery of the boy from Matanzas. Tomorrow is his birthday. Thanks to everyone who helped heal this champion," said the administrator of the Pesca en Miami project on Facebook, a group that organizes donations for needy people in Cuba.

The good samaritan has been sharing photos documenting the child's progress since the incident occurred in mid-August. The case came to public attention when a user posted photos of the child's facial injuries while he was hospitalized at the Matanzas pediatric hospital, appealing for help in obtaining medications that were unavailable at the hospital.

More than two weeks later, Giorvis Daniel Rodríguez, who turns three on September 5, is much better thanks to the solidarity of his fellow Cubans in Miami. The Pesca en Miami group also released a photo of the kitchen where the accident that endangered Giorvis Daniel's life took place.

"They live in poor conditions, but I know that blessings will reach this family one day," expressed the author of the post. The boy's mother, Anni Rodríguez Sánchez, recounted how the accident happened and emphasized that there was no negligence involved.

She explained that their home is very humble and the wooden tabletop was in poor condition, so they decided to replace it. Upon removing the plywood, they found numerous ants and used alcohol to burn them. Unfortunately, improper handling caused the entire bottle to catch fire, sending flames shooting six or seven meters to where the child was standing.
