Cuban actor Erdwin Fernández has shown support for his colleague and friend Ulyk Anello, after Anello shared his harsh experience as a migrant in the United States and publicly admitted that he has gone days without eating.

Erdwin sent a message of support to Ulyk, criticizing those who have judged him harshly and reminding everyone of the loneliness and suffering of being away from loved ones. "To criticize someone, you must walk in their shoes; it's a very old and wise saying, and only God knows what we go through individually, and we suffer in solitude," he emphasized.

"Many might find public crying and complaining offensive, but it only happens when the heart bursts; it's more of a cry for help, nothing else, and you need to be brave to do it publicly," Erdwin remarked.

Anello's Struggle in the United States

Last week, Anello gave an interview to Dominican YouTuber Destino Tolk, revealing that after the U.S. government withdrew his food stamp benefits, he went days without eating. Following the controversy sparked by these statements, Erdwin shared a post on his Facebook, clarifying to his colleague that if anything, mockery and attacks serve to reveal that not everyone is kind and sensitive, advising him to be more private about his life.

"Instead of offending and mocking, it would have been beautiful to say: 'Ulyk, my friend, although I don't know you, here you have our support because there's plenty of food here. What do you need?'" Erdwin pointed out.

Fernández revealed that many Cubans in Miami have laughed and mocked, suggesting that Anello should work cleaning bathrooms and forget about acting. "I want to see every Cuban who has arrived in this great country working in the career they studied, achieving greatness and fulfilling their dreams and professions. Others want to see us cleaning bathrooms; that's the difference. (And I know we have to work in whatever job is available; I've done it and still do)," he emphasized.

"I once published (and with great pride) that I started working as a sales associate in a furniture store chain, wearing a suit, tie, and working in air conditioning, earning good money with excellent conditions. The mocking didn't stop. And I learned something: many people will hate you for it, they will mock you, so I decided not to make my private life public anymore because you don't throw pearls to pigs; they eat them," he explained.

Lastly, Erdwin assured his friend that many good Cubans would offer him help because there are also many people of good will in the United States, Christians who adore God and love human beings. "And regarding going hungry, my friend, there are many of us good Cubans and friends here who, although we may be a bit tight, will always offer our support; and regarding loneliness, a call can always be made," he expressed.
