Saturday, August 24, 2024 by Amelia Soto

Following the election results in Miami-Dade County, where Cuban influencer Alexander Otaola secured third place with 12 percent of the votes, the former candidate responded to artists promoting campaigns against him. In the same video where he shared his feelings about the election outcome and clarified that "nothing is lost yet," Otaola addressed the ridicule from artists.

"Alexis Valdés made a beautiful song about me, and I've enjoyed it a lot. Just like the other comedians who have come out. Eduardo Antonio, who is now also a comedian, made a song mocking me. I find it wonderful because all of this is a reflection of my campaign, my persona, my actions, and my agenda," Otaola stated in a live broadcast from his Facebook page last Thursday.

Moreover, he asserted, "You are working for me. I think it's fantastic."

He also criticized them for not creating songs against "the henchmen" or parodies about "the prices charged by agencies so you can send medicine to your mother." He continued, "I haven't seen those people, so Cuban, so human, so sensitive, making parodies and songs to criticize the shameless submission that from Miami wants to keep exiles using their own in Cuba as hostages."

Otaola, known for his staunch anti-communist stance and support for former President Donald Trump, finished a distant third in the elections on Tuesday, August 20, far behind current Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who secured a second term with more than 58% of the votes.

The influencer rejected the results and requested a recount, which was denied by the Miami-Dade Department of Elections.

Artists with whom the former candidate has had heated disputes in the past, including Alexis Valdés and Eduardo Antonio, reacted immediately to the outcome. Alexis Valdés resorted to his character Cristinito, unleashing the usual humor based on wordplay, aimed at clear ridicule. Meanwhile, Eduardo Antonio used music to celebrate the defeat of the Hola, Otaola show host.
