After prolonged interruptions affecting electronic payment channels on Sunday and Monday, the Banco Metropolitano of Cuba reported new issues with magnetic card services this Wednesday.

The entity announced on its Facebook page that delays or the inability to perform operations could be noticed across various platforms, including ATMs, interbank transfers, and POS terminals.

According to a note published on the official site Cubadebate, a similar situation occurred earlier in the week, although the problem was resolved within a few hours, causing significant inconvenience for users.

As reported by Martí Noticias, technical issues in the Cuban banking system, including Banco Metropolitano, led Western Union to suspend remittance services to the island from the United States for over three months in early 2024.
