Animal protectors in the province of Sancti Spíritus shared a heartwarming story on social media this Sunday about a homeless dog who visits a volunteer's home every day in search of food.

The ARCA Foundation Sancti Spíritus posted on Facebook, stating that "every day, she never misses being in front of our volunteer's door to look for her 'papita'." ARCA also shared a picture of the dog waiting outside the house for her meal. "Feed a stray and you feed your own soul," the foundation remarked.

The organization has repeatedly urged people to feed stray dogs, within their means, even amid food shortages. "You just have to understand that they are hungry too, and with a little of what you can spare, you feed these poor homeless animals," they emphasized on social media.

ARCA has also praised the actions of some protectors who continue to add new dogs to the list of those they feed daily. For instance, they mentioned Ali, who added two dogs nicknamed "the blonde" and "the fat one" to his daily feeding routine. "For them, this might be the only meal of the day," noted ARCA.

Recently, an animal advocate called for assistance from those willing to help raise $800 to purchase a house in the countryside to establish a dog shelter in Güines, a municipality in the province of Mayabeque, Cuba. According to a message shared by Alberto Luiz Cruz on Facebook, the house they aim to buy has ample space, water, and electricity, making it an ideal location for housing animals.

Requests for help on social media are frequent, with animal protectors stressing that their work is unsustainable without community support. For example, recently, animal activists in Havana raised funds to perform surgery on a dog that survived the explosion at the Hotel Saratoga.
