A Cuban couple tragically lost their lives on Wednesday morning following an explosion of an electric scooter in their home in the Luyanó neighborhood of the Diez de Octubre municipality, Havana.

Their two young daughters suffered severe injuries and are currently being treated at the Miguel Enríquez Hospital (La Benéfica).

Witnesses shared details of the incident in the Facebook group "Madres cubanas por un mundo mejor," where firefighter Ernesto A. Robaina confirmed that minors were trapped inside the house during the blaze.

"Because of a scooter. People died, and there are children in critical condition," "An electric scooter exploded, and the adults died while the children were gravely injured," and "A scooter exploded inside the house on Princesa Street," were some of the testimonies shared. "I live on that block, everyone was crying," another witness recounted.

Crime reporter Niover Licea, who goes by "Nio reporting a crime" online, revealed on his Instagram account the identity of the deceased woman. She was Yilian Martínez, a young woman. Her husband was known to be the local electricity bill collector.

The incident occurred at 6:30 am on Marqués de la Torre Street, between Princesa and Margot.
