A driver, allegedly intoxicated, crashed into a utility pole in the city of Santiago de Cuba on Sunday afternoon while carrying minors as passengers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Journalist Yosmany Mayeta reported on Facebook that the incident occurred at the intersection of Trocha and Calvario streets, in front of the pharmacy and entrance to the Dr. Antonio María Béguez César Children's Hospital, commonly known as "La Colonia."

According to eyewitnesses, neither the driver nor the minors sustained injuries. It was indicated that the driver appeared to be drunk and was returning from the beach. "The damage to the car seems to be several thousand pesos," he noted.

Last Saturday, an accident in Holguín resulted in two adult fatalities and six injuries, including two children. The tragic event took place in Mayarí municipality when a Chevrolet "almendrón" collided with a tree.

Also in Holguín, a motorized police officer—commonly known as "caballitos"—died last Friday in a traffic accident in the municipality of Sagua de Tánamo. A post in the Facebook group Accidentes Buses & Camiones indicated that the crash involved the deceased officer and a truck, occurring at the well-known "Curva del Carpintero" on the Levisa-Sagua highway.

On the same Friday, but in the Cuban capital, a car fell into a large trench opened by the company Aguas de La Habana on the road in the Cerro municipality, causing significant damage to its bodywork.
