In just a few days, at least six individuals have been detained in Holguín for drug trafficking, according to reports from the officialist Facebook profile Cazador-Cazado.

The source indicated that five men were arrested on Victoria Street in the Hechavarría neighborhood of Holguín after being found with over 50 marijuana bonbons, crack rocks, and cash. The arrested individuals were identified as Carlos Pérez de Armas, Maikel Lorente, Ramón Larry Pacanes, Brayan Sierra, and Ángel Adrián Téllez. The official source did not provide further details about the circumstances of the arrest.

In another recent incident, a Cuban identified as Salvador Cabrera de Armas was arrested at Playa Caletones in the municipality of Gibara while attempting to negotiate marijuana. This incident occurred during the Stereo G National Electronic Music Festival held in that municipality.

These are not the first arrests related to drug trafficking in Holguín in recent weeks. At the end of June, the same profile reported the detention of an individual near the Frank País International Airport when the person was traveling by motorcycle with merchandise.

"Near the Frank País International Airport in Holguín, L.G.G. was detained by authorities while traveling from Granma on a private motorcycle. The package of marijuana was tied to his groin," the official source indicated in that case.

In recent months, the Cuban regime has had to acknowledge an increase in crime and drug-related offenses in Cuba, where increasingly younger individuals are consuming drugs like the so-called "chemical," a cheap and harmful drug.

In mid-July, during the closing speech of the third session of the National Assembly in its tenth legislature, Miguel Díaz-Canel confirmed the increase in addictions, violence, and crime in the country, in the context of what he called an "adverse socioeconomic scenario."
