Saturday, August 3, 2024 by Michael Hernandez

Chocolate MC emerged from prison not only with renewed energy for music but also with a clear intention to reclaim the spot he believes is rightfully his. The self-proclaimed "King of the Reparteros" gave his first interview post-incarceration on the show "Destino Tolk" and took the opportunity to set the record straight.

"The artists who are popular right now, they might be popular, but none of them are genuinely original," the singer stated confidently, insisting that all the new talents owe their careers to him. "After Chocolate, everyone is Chocolate. Modesty aside, I'm the biggest name in Cuban music at the moment, ever since I got out," he added, living up to his moniker.

"The other guys aren't elite today; they're making hits now, but they're not elite. They’re no longer snatching purses on the corner; they're in the studio recording ragamorfa, thanks to the creation of this genre. They have the voice color, the style, the rhythm; they are 'Chocolaticos,'" the artist emphasized, underscoring that today's Cuban urban music is a testament to his musical legacy.

Once out, Chocolate dedicated his first song to throwing some jabs at Oniel Bebeshito and El Taiger over their hit "Marca Mandarina," questioning in his track, "where are the 'mango brand' now" that he's out of prison.

The reggaeton star is also working on a new musical collaboration with one of the hottest duos of the moment, Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13.
