The National Civil Police (PNC) of Guatemala apprehended two Cuban migrants who were traveling irregularly through Central America along with other foreign nationals. The Guatemalan police operation aimed to capture Rony "N", a 34-year-old smuggler responsible for transporting the migrants.

The arrest took place at kilometer 181 on the Interamerican route in the jurisdiction of Chiquimula, according to a PNC statement on Facebook. The two Cubans, whose identities were not disclosed, were traveling in a Chevrolet microbus with license plate P-306BVR. They were detained alongside three Cameroonians, one Nigerian, and three Ecuadorians.

The apprehended smuggler was handed over to the judiciary, while the migrants received necessary assistance and were subsequently transferred to the Guatemalan Migration Institute at the Agua Caliente border in Esquipulas, Chiquimula, the police specified.

Last Friday, the Secretary of Public Security (SSC) of Quintana Roo, Mexico, announced the rescue of six Cuban migrants—four men and two women—who had been kidnapped in Cancún, located in the municipality of Benito Juárez.
