Two motorized police officers, commonly referred to as "caballitos," tragically lost their lives on Monday afternoon due to a traffic accident in the province of Camagüey, according to social media reports.

The incident, which has yet to be visually documented, occurred on the curve before reaching Siboney in Camagüey city, coming from Las Tunas, reported Facebook user María De Los Angeles Escobar Durán in the group “ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!

One of the deceased officers was identified as Yuniesky, a resident of the town of Jiqui in the Sibanicú municipality of Camagüey. No details were available about the second officer.

Although the exact causes of the accident remain unconfirmed, users suggested that the "caballitos" were escorting a caravan when they were hit head-on by a car. "A car came straight at them; they were escorting a caravan," wrote user Yurisnel Matos. "A car coming from the opposite direction lost control and hit them," added another person.

Videos shared in the Facebook group “Accidentes automovilísticos en Cuba” showed the swift movement of ambulances in Camagüey city.
