Young Cuban Entrepreneur Finds Success with His Own Clothing Brand in Mexico

Wednesday, July 24, 2024 by Felix Ortiz

A young man born in the largest nation in the Caribbean has revealed on social media the "secret" to his success in Mexico with his own clothing brand, Habana Rytt Dustin. Rytt Dustin (@rytt_dustin) explained on TikTok that his goal was to create a new clothing line that had “the essence of Cuba, but modernized.”

He emphasized that he didn't want it to be the typical "CUBA" in red or blue. “It was very challenging to find suppliers who could meet those standards,” noted the entrepreneur, highlighting that from the start, they were intent on hiring someone who could meet two criteria: provide good designs and ensure the quality of the fabrics.

Additionally, he pointed out that one of the most beautiful moments in the launch of his business was seeing his parents' reaction. In another video, the young Cuban mentioned that “Cubans are not just human, we are a dream.”

The Struggles of Cuban Entrepreneurs Abroad

Dustin expressed that many times, Cubans, before escaping, imagine “that they can conquer the world.” “If you have a talent or work in any job, you know that outside of Cuba it would be very different,” noted the entrepreneur. He compared the bravery of Cubans, who are capable of doing anything to make their way outside their homeland, with the courage required to cross borders on the perilous journey of emigration.

“We have no choice but to be strong,” said the young man, listing the hardships that Cubans face when emigrating, including obstacles like language, culture, and differing ideologies. “I am neither a designer nor a fashion expert; I am a Cuban, and I am a fighter. We Cubans are fighters,” emphasized the entrepreneur.

In his online store, the young man sells various clothing items. One notable piece is a T-shirt that features a design honoring Havana and Cuban culture, showcasing a phrase well-known to Cubans: “Patria y Vida.”

Cubans pour their heart and courage into making their way in other countries after escaping the Caribbean nation. Chef José Ynglada 'Mundi', owner of the renowned restaurant Arahy, has found success in Spain by specializing in the marketing of a gourmet product: Fuentes Bluefin Tuna.

Ynglada settled with his family in the Spanish capital in the 1990s. He has managed to make every dish a testament to his passion for gastronomy. Recently, a Cuban proudly showcased his pizza business that he runs from a food truck in Florida, an endeavor he is very proud of and claims that his “sacrifice was worth it.” Jorge Alberto Curbelo shares the process of making this delicious food through his social media.
