Monday, July 22, 2024 by Elizabeth Alvarado

Like many artists, Roberto San Martín had to take on jobs unrelated to acting when he first moved to Miami. Although it wasn't easy, he gradually made his way in a new environment. In an interview with Cuban YouTuber Adrián Fernández, the actor shared how, after seven years in Spain—where he achieved significant success and public recognition in well-known films and series such as "Aquí no hay quien viva" and "La que se avecina"—he decided to relocate to Miami with his family, feeling he had reached his peak in the Iberian country.

"I've done everything here, everything, from driving for Uber," the artist confessed, recalling an instance when he drove three Spaniards in Miami Beach who recognized him from his character Yago in "Aquí no hay quien viva." One of the Spaniards couldn't believe he was doing well if he was driving for Uber, so San Martín told him he was studying for a movie role as an Uber driver.

Despite the initial challenges in the city, San Martín found something he loved about Miami: "This is a place where if you want and if you work at it, you can always grow. You always have a distant goal, but you know you can reach it. In Spain, I reached a point where I hit the ceiling."

Returning to Spain and Back to the U.S.

After performing in numerous theater productions and starting to work on social media, where he also made inroads, San Martín returned to Spain for personal reasons and stayed there for almost another seven years. During this time, his YouTube channel "La Familia Pérez" achieved great success.

However, Roberto San Martín, his wife Alicia, and their daughters have returned to the United States: "We just moved to Florida. I'm in the process of setting up my house, making it the way I want it, getting my daughters started in school so they can readjust, and growing my channel as much as possible. 'La Familia Pérez' on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok is doing great."

San Martín also left the door open for potential future projects in theater and acting.
