Cuban musician Arturo Sandoval continues to garner accolades, and this year he will be honored by the Kennedy Center. Each year, the center selects a group of significant and distinguished artists for its Kennedy Center Honors, celebrating the honorees with a star-studded gala.

This year's honorees include the Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Arturo Sandoval, director Francis Ford Coppola, and the Harlem institution, the Apollo Theater.

Arturo Sandoval, a jazz trumpeter and composer, reacted to this recognition by saying: "I am deeply honored and profoundly grateful to be selected to receive the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors. The musician left Cuba in 1990 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama in 2013.
