Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he will be traveling to Wisconsin this Sunday for the Republican National Convention, despite surviving an assassination attempt on Saturday. Trump scheduled his flight for 3:30 PM on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the attack at a rally in Pennsylvania, where a bullet grazed his right ear.

In a message shared on his social media platform Truth Social, the former president admitted that after the "terrible events" of Saturday, he considered postponing his trip by two days but ultimately decided to stick to the original plan.

"I cannot allow a 'shooter' or potential assassin to force a change in scheduling, or anything else. Therefore, I will depart for Milwaukee as planned at 3:30 PM today. Thank you. DJT," he stated.

Trump flew from Pennsylvania to New Jersey on Saturday night after being discharged from the hospital just a few hours following the attack. A video released by the press showed him arriving at the airport, descending the stairs of his private plane on his own, demonstrating that he is in good health. He briefly waved and continued walking with a calm demeanor, seemingly unaffected by the recent events.

The political leader spent that night at his private golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he summers, surrounded by his family.

On Thursday, Trump's candidacy for the White House on behalf of the Republican Party is expected to be officially announced.

The convention will begin on Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as scheduled, although with reinforced security measures ordered by President Joe Biden to the head of the Secret Service.

Trump asserted that his survival of the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania was due to divine intervention.
