Miami Rent Prices: Cubans Defend Their City with Humor

Sunday, July 14, 2024 by Madison Pena

Amid the heated debate on social media about the pros and cons of living in Miami, other parts of Florida, or even different states in the United States, a Cuban resident tackled this controversy through humor and comedy. Deivis Nuñez (@deivis_nunez), a well-known figure in the Cuban community on TikTok for his humorous videos, parodied a conversation with another Cuban discussing this controversy and defending the Sun City.

In the video, Deivis talks to another Cuban who is visiting Miami and has immediate criticisms of the city. "I'm not from here. I'm just visiting. I live up north. I don't like this city; the traffic is terrible as soon as you get in. That already put me off. I don't want to hear anything more about Miami," begins the visiting Cuban.

"You started off on the wrong foot. The traffic is the same everywhere. The difference is that there are a lot of people here, and many more keep coming. Everyone wants to be here," says Deivis, who vigorously defends Miami throughout the video.

"I don't know what issue you all have with those of us who live in Miami. Maybe it's jealousy... The truth is, Miami is the best place in Florida," Deivis asserts.

The visiting Cuban then lists some problems with living in Miami, such as high rent prices and low wages. "The rent is higher because we have the money to pay for it," retorts Deivis. "Why are you all so bothered by those of us living in Miami? This is the best city," he adds, visibly offended.

"I don't understand how someone can live in Miami just to say they live in Miami. Everyone up north has their own house," concludes the visiting Cuban.
