Trump Mocks Biden After He Mistakenly Calls Kamala Harris "Vice President Trump": "Great Job, Joe"

Friday, July 12, 2024 by Edward Lopez

Former U.S. President Donald Trump mocked Joe Biden after the latter mistakenly referred to Kamala Harris as "Vice President Trump."

On Thursday, during a press conference where the Democratic leader aimed to demonstrate his capability to remain in the White House, Biden made a blunder by calling Kamala Harris "Vice President Trump" and continued speaking as if nothing was amiss. "Look, I wouldn’t have chosen Vice President Trump as vice president if I thought she wasn’t qualified to be president," he stated.

Trump swiftly reacted with a message on his social media, mocking the president and calling him "little man." "Corrupt Joe has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome," wrote the Republican politician on his platform, Truth Social. "Great job, Joe!" he added sarcastically.

In response, Biden tweeted: "By the way: yes, I know the difference. One is a prosecutor and the other is a criminal," he said.

The association of Kamala with Trump was not Biden’s first slip of the day. Earlier, during the closing of the NATO summit, while introducing the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, he referred to him as "President Putin." On that occasion, he did realize his grave mistake and corrected himself, justifying it by saying he was so focused on defeating Putin that he misspoke. Zelensky took it with humor, stating: "I am better."

Despite Biden reiterating his intention to run for re-election in November, these gaffes do not help to quell doubts among his electorate regarding his mental health. Increasingly, figures close to him suggest he should step down from the campaign and make way for others.

One such figure is his friend, the renowned actor and Democratic activist George Clooney, who penned an article in the New York Times asserting that Biden is too old to continue leading the country and warning that if he doesn’t step aside, the Party will lose the election.

"I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As vice president and as president. I consider him a friend and believe in him. I believe in his character. I believe in his morals. Over the last four years, he has won many of the battles he has faced. But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can," wrote Clooney.

"It’s devastating to say, but the Joe Biden I saw three weeks ago at the fundraising event was not the Joe Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all saw in the debate," he added.

Additionally, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi suggested the president reconsider his decision to stay in the race. "It is up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We are all encouraging him to make that decision because time is of the essence," she said.
