Sunday, July 7, 2024 by Alex Smith

A social media user shared an image that reveals the deplorable food provided to a child at the pediatric hospital in Guantánamo, criticizing the poor nutrition given to patients at the facility.

The user, @DiazVismar38292, posted on the social platform X (formerly Twitter) a photo showing a bowl with a small portion of white rice, peas, and five pieces of boiled plantain: “Look at the food the Cuban regime gives a child at the pediatric hospital in Guantánamo.”

“You need a heart to see something like this; the Cuban communists are criminals,” the user commented, who regularly exposes the abuses committed by the Cuban government against the civilian population.

The same profile also shared a video highlighting the poor conditions of the bathrooms in the pediatric hospital in Guantánamo.

“These are their current conditions. I feel deeply ashamed to show these images, but we must expose the Cuban dictatorship,” the user said. “Communism is a deadly plague,” he added.

The brief clip shows the appalling state of the bathrooms in the healthcare institution, a particularly alarming situation for a pediatric hospital, as it jeopardizes the recovery of the patients.

Unsanitary conditions in Cuban hospitals are a recurring issue in various cities, highlighting the regime's crisis and its inaction to address the main problems affecting the population.

Recently, social media reports have surfaced about the South Children's Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, where the unbearable stench from the bathrooms was noted.

Several affected individuals sent independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada photos showing the filthy state of the place, with toilets overflowing with urine and paper, and a bucket supposedly used for cleaning filled with black water.

The journalist also shared on Facebook a report that pointed out dogs and cats roaming the halls of the same hospital.
