New Train Service to Link Old Havana with Eastern Beaches This Summer

This Friday, July 5th, a new train service will commence, providing transportation to the eastern beaches of Havana to ease the mobility of residents during the summer season. The train, a medium-sized locomotive with four cars and an approximate capacity of 200 passengers, is operated by the Western Railways Company of the Union of Railways of Cuba.

According to a Facebook post by the Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, the train will run from Tuesday to Sunday, with Mondays reserved for technical inspections and maintenance. The train will depart at 9:00 am from the platform located at Egido and Arsenal streets and is expected to arrive at 10:35 am. The return trip will be at 6:05 pm.

The train will make stops at the following locations: Enlace del Gas, Arenal, Guanabacoa Crossing, Nalón Halt, Jewish Cemetery, Cambute, Cuadras, Bacuranao, Tarará - Berroa, Las Playas Halt, Corona, and the Playas del Este branch link.

The fare for the full route will be 35.00 CUP, with a tiered pricing system based on travel segments.
