Four individuals lost their lives in a tragic traffic accident that occurred early Thursday morning on the road leading to Santa Lucía Beach in Nuevitas, located in the province of Camagüey.

The incident took place in the Las 80 community when two young people traveling towards the beach stopped and exited their vehicle—apparently to urinate—but did so on the opposite lane. They were struck by another car traveling in that direction, according to sources close to the victims.

A source interviewed by the independent newspaper CubaNet confirmed this version of events and identified the youths as Cliver Álvarez Mayo, 17, who died instantly, and Dailenis Silva, 19, who passed away at the Nuevitas hospital. Both resided in the municipality of Manatí in the province of Las Tunas.

The car that hit the young people overturned after the collision, fell into a ditch, and caught fire, resulting in the death of two of its occupants, who were "burned by the explosion," reported CubaNet. Two other individuals in the front seats managed to escape with their lives.

So far, the identities of the other two deceased persons have not been disclosed. It is reported that at least two people sustained severe injuries, and another person suffered minor injuries, although this information has not been verified by CiberCuba.

Neither the authorities nor local media have provided information on the fatal accident, which has shocked residents of both Camagüey and Las Tunas.

Friends and family of the two identified victims have expressed their grief on social media, extending condolences to their loved ones.
