Seventeen Cubans and three Venezuelans were arrested Tuesday night during an anti-drug operation conducted by the police in the city of Pachuca, in the state of Hidalgo, according to an official statement.

During a police deployment organized by the Secretariat of Public Security of Hidalgo (SSPH) and the Attorney General's Office of that state (PGJEH), 20 foreigners—11 women and nine men—were detained. Authorities confiscated 100 doses of synthetic drugs, known as "crystal," and 83 doses of marijuana, according to local media reports.

The operation was initiated based on multiple citizen complaints, which identified a residence in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood as a suspected drug-dealing point.

The detainees, whose names have not been disclosed, do not have legal status in the country and are allegedly linked to various theft incidents in the metropolitan area.

Also on Tuesday night, in the locality of Tepojaco, municipality of Tizayuca, the authorities executed a search warrant in a house where they found 100 doses of dried herb resembling marijuana, 26 doses of synthetic drug "crystal," and mobile phone equipment. Two individuals, identified by the initials A. J. G. C. and A. G. C., alias "El Chango," were arrested at the scene. "El Chango" is suspected of being a generator of violent acts in the region. The statement did not specify the nationality of the detainees.

The Secretariat of Public Security of Hidalgo also stated that after completing judicial procedures, "the involved individuals and confiscated items were handed over to the competent authority while investigations continue."

This past weekend, two more Cubans—a man and a woman—were arrested in Tizayuca during police operations in local nightclubs aimed at combating drug dealing. Authorities detained a total of six people and found 312 doses of synthetic drug "crystal." The SSPH identified the two Cubans implicated in the events by the initials M. F. M. and M. A. R., making it impossible to determine their full names.
